I was wavering between using the word “karma” or not when writing this blog, coz it reminds me of those unpleasant memories of Sharon Stone who made very disgusting remarks at Canne Film Festival when Wenchuan earthquake hit China and we were all sparing no efforts in saving lives there and helping them rebuild their homes. However, after I watched the game between England and Germany, it was the first word coming to my mind.

The old grudge between the two teams dated back to 1966, when God favored England and “helped”them win a World Cup champion title with a controversial goal which remains an unsolved mystery till now. 44 years later, similar thing happened and it was the Englishen who were out of luck this time. Neither the referee nor the sideman hadn’t seen the ball had fallen beyond the goal line, and the Englishmen had lost their chance to level the score. Frustrated by the incident, the English couldn’t muster themselves up during the rest of the game. Finally, they lost the game to Germans by 1:4, a fresh disgrace for them.

However, I do think the English players behaved quite like gentlemen, who had not lost temper and still contain themselves very well. They are real gentlmen, though they are doomed to lose the game due to inferior skills. The Germans have done much better than them, but they deserve our respect.

Before you go on with the following details, I’d clarify that WC here refers to “World Cup” instead of the place for you to answer the natural call. I have to use the familiar short form here due to Sina’s restrictions on the length of the blog titles.

Long before the world cup rose its curtain, my sun had been begging me to watch the games with him. He favors Brazil and Germany, and has decided to watch all the games of these two teams. You may be wondering why he has to do so…Well, not because I am a fan also, but because I have to wake him up in case the game is on after the midnight(2:30 am.)..I am pleased to undertake this glorious task, however that’s where my misery comes from.

To tell the truth, I’m not a guy who has developed such franticism for football, who will never watch a game at 2:30 early in the morning! And, frankly speaking, I should not be counted as a football fan, even as a pseudo fan…I don’t like football very much, partly due to the notoriously poor performance of our national team ( just one of the excuses). In this field, my fourteen-year-old sun can teach me a lot. During these days, my job is simple: wake him up after midnight and watch the game with him, though I doze away from time to time during the 90 minutes. I feel quite a relief when the game is drawing to the end, and I’m satisfied with some knowledge about the final scores.

Anyway, it’s quite an experience watching games with my son. He knows almost all the players of the teams in his favor, and knows more rules than I do. Sometimes he even mocks at his once-almighty father( at least in his eyes)WC:Carnival for Genuine Fans, Misery for Pseudos , just like the way he did when I hummed some melodies of his idol, Michael Jackson. My God, he’s really growing up and I’m getting old. He once thought his father knew everything I liked to talked with me a lot. Now, he’s bold enough to laugh at me when I fail to answer one of his questions. The son excels the father, which is probably a natural law. And, the World Cup is his festival, which is not mine.

The largest ever( maybe) world expo is in full display in Shanghai, one of China’s most modern and populated cities. Certainly, we do have every reason to be proud of it, though we do have every reason to be ashamed. The Expo, like a mirror, reflects both the splendor and brilliance of the modern China, and vulgarity and uncivilizedness of the Chinese people. While being amazed at the grand expo, many foreign reporters were astonished by the creativity of Chinese people.

Let’s look at these pictures and see how you feel about them:
